Old World Christmas Debuts Loyalty Program on National Ornament Day

Spokane-based glass ornament maker Old World Christmas is marking the fourth annual National Ornament Day by launching its first dedicated loyalty program. The initiative aims to reward long-term collectors who treat holiday decorating as a year-round pursuit, offering point-based incentives for both purchases and digital engagement starting this September.

For 47 years, the company has operated on the premise that ornaments serve as personal archives, marking weddings, new homes, and other life milestones. By introducing the Collectors Club, the brand shifts its focus from seasonal, one-off holiday transactions toward building a recurring relationship with its most dedicated enthusiasts. The program structure relies on a tiered system that encourages consistent interaction rather than a single annual visit.

Members enter at the Collector tier, with opportunities to advance to Keeper and Legacy status as their spending reaches specific milestones. Beyond financial transactions, the club gamifies engagement by offering points for social media interaction, email sign-ups, and even the submission of new design concepts. According to Neal Applefeld, President and CEO, the move is a direct acknowledgment of the community that established the brand's reputation since its founding in 1979.

While points begin accruing immediately for new members, the actual redemption of rewards—which include free ornaments—is scheduled to commence on March 1, 2027. The program’s launch on September 25 mirrors the timing of National Ornament Day, a holiday the company itself established in 2022 to carve out a space for collectors ahead of the inevitable year-end shopping rush.
