Aleut Federal Opens High-Tech AV/VTC Lab in Colorado Springs

At the core of the installation is a Q-SYS VisionSuite-enabled architecture. This system leverages 17 points of biometric data alongside beamforming microphone sound-positioning to track and frame speakers automatically. By dynamically controlling cameras and recalling scenes as conversations unfold, the technology aims to provide remote participants with a professional experience that mirrors the feeling of being physically present in the room.

Rob Hogue, Program Manager at Aleut, emphasized that the goal was to move beyond a standard showroom model. The facility serves as a testing ground where technical teams can evaluate how emerging tools function as a cohesive system rather than isolated gadgets. Michael Bates, Chief Information Officer at Aleut, noted that the space allows the company to refine these integrated solutions before deploying them into complex mission environments. The site provides a dedicated hub for technical evaluations, project commissioning, and long-term user support for government partners.
