Comporium Taps Teleste as Exclusive HFC Infrastructure Partner
Following a rigorous RFP process, South Carolina-based communications provider Comporium has named Teleste its sole supplier for future hybrid fiber-coaxial network upgrades. The agreement integrates Teleste’s 1.8 GHz-capable hardware with centralized management software to streamline operations for the company’s 145,000 customers across the Carolinas.
The deal centers on the deployment of ICON3000 line extenders and ICON4000 system amplifiers, both designed to support 1.8 GHz performance. Comporium engineers prioritized these units for their field installation speed and RF signal reliability. To manage the expanded plant, the provider will utilize Teleste’s Argus Network Management System alongside the Virtual Device Manager (VDM) layer.
By selecting a unified platform, Comporium aims to bridge the gap between physical hardware and digital monitoring. Plug-in transponders will feed telemetry data directly into the Argus environment, granting network teams centralized control over diagnostics and device inventory. Mike Deller, Comporium’s Senior Vice President of Engineering and Planning, noted that the decision followed successful field trials where the hardware outperformed expectations in both technical benchmarks and technician usability. The rollout will proceed in phases, aligning with Comporium’s high-split modernization strategy and long-term transition to 1.8 GHz capacity.
