BOOX Launches Picco, a Card-Sized E-Reader for Pocket Carry

The Picco is roughly the size of a standard playing card, intentionally stripped of the notification-heavy interface of a traditional smartphone. BOOX has equipped the device with a monochrome display featuring 235 PPI resolution and adjustable front lighting. Navigation relies on a combination of a touchscreen and physical page-turn buttons, with four-way rotation allowing for various grip styles. To ensure the device remains a dedicated tool for reading, it includes a streamlined operating system alongside basic utilities like a Pomodoro timer, a to-do list, and a countdown clock.

Hardware specifications include a 16GB microSD card with support for up to 2TB of expandable storage, accommodating thousands of books. Users can transfer files via USB-C, a web browser, or the dedicated BOOX Tiles app. For those who want to keep their reading device physically tethered to their phone, the company has included a magnetic ring case. Shipping is expected to commence by November, with the device available exclusively through the official BOOX Shop.
