Teleste Integrates OTT Streams into Traditional Broadcast Infrastructure

The new adaptive bitrate receiver supports live MPEG-DASH streams and Widevine DRM decryption, translating OTT content into MPEG transport streams for IP multicast or QAM distribution. This flexibility allows a single installation to serve diverse requirements, as the IP and QAM outputs can function simultaneously. Julius Tikkanen, Vice President of Video Service Platforms at Teleste, noted that this transition allows operators to modernize their delivery networks while maintaining television formats that suit specific customer hardware, such as hospitality or healthcare facilities.

Designed for the modular Luminato 4X4 chassis, the receiver supports up to 32 QAM carriers per module and is compatible with both DVB-C and ITU-T J.83 Annex B standards. The hardware is available for both new deployments and existing installations, where users can integrate the receiver alongside current processing and output modules. With six hot-swappable module slots and dual power supplies, the system provides redundancy and scalability for sites operating beyond standard broadband infrastructure.
