A2Gold Begins 3,700-Metre Drilling Campaign at Eastside Project
A2Gold Corp. has launched a 3,700-metre reverse-circulation drilling program at the Eastside Gold-Silver Project near Tonopah, Nevada. The campaign, which includes eight planned holes, marks a strategic pivot for the company as it shifts focus from bulk-tonnage mineralization toward the discovery of high-grade epithermal veins.
The current exploration phase targets the Pente zone, a high-priority area within the company’s extensive Nevada land package. Previous attempts in this region identified shallow, low-grade gold mineralization linked to rhyolite flow dome margins. However, recent geological mapping has uncovered outcropping, silicified fault zones that suggest the presence of higher-grade gold and silver deposits at greater depths than those previously reached by vertical drilling.
CEO Peter Gianulis noted that this work is part of a broader, systematic evaluation of the Eastside district. Alongside ongoing efforts at the Castle and McIntosh sites, the Pente program aims to test structural targets that the company believes hold significant potential for high-grade epithermal systems. A2Gold, which controls approximately 230 square kilometres of mineral tenure in the region, is currently supported by a shareholder base that includes Kinross Gold Corporation.
