The partnership allows property operators to replace manual deposit collection with a digital, bank-backed framework. By utilizing letters of credit, Obligo intends to shift its platform from a niche deposit alternative into a comprehensive operating system for residential security. Property teams can now manage charge submissions and renter communications through integrations with major management software, including Yardi, RealPage, AppFolio, and Buildium.

For renters, the system facilitates move-in flexibility without the requirement of large upfront cash outlays. Roey Dor, CEO and co-founder of Obligo, noted that the collaboration addresses the long-standing friction inherent in traditional deposit workflows. Melissa Stepanis, Head of Technology Banking at HSBC Innovation Banking, stated that the initiative aligns with the bank's strategy to support technology-driven companies utilizing established financial products to modernize consumer transactions. Obligo, founded in 2018, currently operates across more than 1 million homes in the United States.
