Bose revives wired earbuds with active noise canceling
Bose is returning to the tethered audio market for the first time in over a decade, launching the Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds. By shifting to a USB-C connection and integrating advanced noise-canceling technology, the company aims to eliminate battery anxiety for users who prefer a direct, corded listening experience.
These earbuds represent a departure from the industry's wireless trend, banking on the reliability of a 4.2-foot cable to deliver lossless audio with minimal latency. The device draws power directly from smartphones or laptops via USB-C, removing the need for periodic charging. Despite the retro form factor, the hardware incorporates modern features including two microphones per bud to power QuietControl technology, allowing users to toggle between noise-canceling, ambient, and off modes via an inline remote.
Available for preorder at $99, the earbuds arrive in black, white smoke, and a limited dewdrop mint colorway. Bose lists shipping dates between October 13th and 15th for the initial rollout. Beyond audio performance, the unit carries an IPX4 rating for sweat and splash resistance, making them suitable for exercise. The package includes a zippered carrying case, three sizes of silicone eartips, and stability wings to ensure a secure fit during movement.
