New Jersey Hall of Fame Inducts 16 Icons at Dream Live Ceremony
Under the bright lights of the Dream Live Performing Arts Center, more than 1,000 residents convened in East Rutherford on September 27 to honor the 18th annual class of the New Jersey Hall of Fame. The ceremony celebrated 16 new inductees whose achievements have shaped the state's cultural and professional landscape.
The evening, hosted by actor Danny DeVito, served as a homecoming for the state’s most influential figures. During the festivities, a surprise proclamation from Governor Sherrill designated November 17, 2026, as Danny DeVito Day. The ceremony featured a poignant moment when Harry Carson introduced former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, while musical performances by Tommy James, Stevie Van Zandt, Edward Brigati, Jr., and saxophonist Mark Rivera underscored the event's local roots.
The honorees reflected on their collective impact, with Hackensack Meridian Health leader Robert C. Garrett noting the privilege of improving the state’s healthcare standards. Singer SZA praised her Garden State origins, describing her success as a direct result of the community that shaped her. NJHOF President Steve Edwards confirmed that these stories will now join a permanent archive of over 260 previous inductees at the museum’s American Dream facility, aimed at providing tangible role models for local students.
