Finastra Debuts AI Tool to Tackle Payment Processing Errors
At the Sibos 2026 conference in Miami, Finastra unveiled Repair Recommendations, a new AI-driven feature for its OperatorAssist platform. Designed to automate the diagnosis and correction of payment discrepancies, the tool aims to reduce the manual labor and operational costs currently plaguing global financial institutions.

Traditional payment systems remain hampered by high error rates and the time-intensive nature of manual exception handling. Finastra’s cloud-native solution integrates directly into existing workflows to provide scheme-aware guidance for networks including Swift, Fedwire, SEPA, UPI, and Nexus. By validating corrections against industry standards, the software allows wire-room operators and technical support teams to resolve issues without relying solely on specialized human expertise.
Barry Rodrigues, EVP of Payments at Finastra, stated the tool is intended to strengthen operational resilience as transaction volumes scale. Analysts note that while automation has progressed, payment teams still face significant bottlenecks in data extraction and exception analysis. By embedding AI into the payment lifecycle, Finastra seeks to accelerate resolution times while maintaining a human-in-the-loop governance model. The feature is slated to complement the company’s Global PAYplus and Payments To Go environments, providing a scalable path for banks modernizing their digital commerce infrastructure.
