New Barn Organics and BAM Team Up to Scale Buckwheat Milk
A strategic partnership between New Barn Organics and BAM the Brand is bringing buckwheat milk to national retail shelves. The collaboration, born from a Whole Foods Market accelerator program, combines New Barn’s production expertise with BAM’s proprietary, shelf-stable buckwheat powder to advance regenerative agriculture in the plant-based dairy category.
The rollout begins at Whole Foods Market locations across California, the Southwest, the Rocky Mountains, and Florida. Under the agreement, New Barn Organics has acquired the recipes for the buckwheat milk, which is now the company’s first product to be fully Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC). The milk is also gluten-free and formulated without seed oils, targeting consumers who prioritize soil health and ingredient transparency.
The relationship between the two companies originated through the Whole Foods Market Local and Emerging Accelerator Program (LEAP) in 2023, where BAM participated as an emerging startup and New Barn served as a mentor. This transition allows BAM to shift its primary focus toward scaling the buckwheat supply chain and supplying its shelf-stable milk powder to other food and beverage manufacturers. According to Paige Hansen, CEO of BAM, the move is designed to make buckwheat more versatile across diverse food applications while increasing its footprint in the competitive plant-based sector. By aligning with the Regenerative Organic Alliance, both companies aim to position buckwheat as a climate-resilient staple capable of suppressing weeds and replenishing soil health on a larger commercial scale.
