Katie Lee Returns to Clayton High to Debut Memoir
At 15, Katie Lee walked away from Clayton High School, leaving behind a conventional path to forge her own. On October 8, the St. Louis restaurateur returns to those same halls, not as a student, but to launch her debut memoir, Unemployable: The Katie Lee Story.
The evening event, hosted by Left Bank Books, features a conversation between Lee and Catherine Neville, Executive Vice President of Community Engagement at Explore St. Louis. The memoir chronicles Lee’s transformation from a high school dropout into the founder of a national Italian food brand and the owner of four KATIE'S Pizza & Pasta locations. Kris Kleindienst, owner of Left Bank Books, described the work as a blend of culinary grit and personal honesty, noting that the narrative captures the specific cultural landscape of St. Louis with vivid detail. Following the discussion at 6 p.m., Lee will sign and personalize copies for attendees. Admission is free, though organizers require an advance RSVP.
