Cytrellis Enters South Korean Aesthetic Market with ellacor Technology
South Korea’s rapidly evolving medical aesthetics sector is set to host the commercial launch of ellacor, a non-surgical device designed to remove sagging skin through Micro-Coring technology. Cytrellis Biosystems finalized a partnership with local distributor KoreAx Co. Ltd. to bring the FDA-cleared procedure to clinics across the country.
The South Korean aesthetic market, valued at $572 million in 2023, represents a major strategic milestone for the Woburn-based company. Independent research projects this segment will reach $1.1 billion by 2029, fueled by patient demand for procedures that deliver surgical-grade results without the use of scalpels or thermal energy. Following regulatory approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2025, the device will now be deployed through KoreAx’s extensive network of dermatologists and aesthetic clinics.
Dr. Denise Dajles, CEO of Cytrellis, characterized the expansion as a validation of the technology’s global appeal. Dr. Chang-Keun Oh, President of the Association of Korean Dermatologists, noted that the arrival of the device aligns with domestic trends favoring non-invasive interventions. The system is already cleared for use on the face, neck, abdomen, and knees, positioning it to compete in a high-volume environment that prioritizes safety and innovation. This move marks the company’s second international expansion of 2026, following a recent launch in Australia.
