Rugvista Launches Woven Stories Collection Inspired by Historical Craft
Swedish retailer Rugvista is bridging the gap between historical artistry and modern living with its latest collection, Woven Stories. Developed in Malmö, the line emphasizes tactile surfaces and faded aesthetics, aiming to transform contemporary interiors into spaces that feel lived-in, curated, and deeply personal rather than mass-produced.
The collection comprises 14 distinct designs available in 21 color variations. Matilda Lundgren, Chief Design Officer at Rugvista, noted that the creative process focused on translating traditional techniques and worn surfaces into products that resonate with modern design sensibilities. Highlights include the Fresco model, which utilizes a blend of loop and cut pile to create light-shifting textures, alongside the Karima, Fragments, and Reva designs, which draw directly from historical patterns and material studies.
To emphasize the human element behind the manufacturing process, Rugvista documented the creation of these rugs in India. This visual narrative, paired with campaign imagery set in a Stockholm residence, aims to demonstrate how the textures transition from the workshop to the domestic environment.
