SUANNUTRA Shifts Lemon Verbena Sourcing to Valencia Fields
Moving away from traditional South American imports, wellness developer SUANNUTRA has launched a large-scale lemon verbena cultivation project in Valencia, Spain. By localizing production, the company aims to secure a more resilient supply chain while maintaining strict control over the botanical profile of its premium nutraceutical ingredients.
The initiative marks a significant transition for the company, which relies on the aromatic herb for key branded products including Metabolaid, RelaxPLX, and Elissara. Jaime Durán Sanz, Chief Business Officer at SUANNUTRA, stated that the move allows for total oversight from planting to final extract, reinforcing the firm's commitment to transparent, responsible sourcing.
To mitigate climate risks, the company has diversified its operations across multiple microclimates in the Valencia region. This strategy is bolstered by water-efficient agronomic practices, such as drip irrigation and advanced soil-covering techniques, developed in collaboration with local nurseries and agronomists. Stephanie Guillén-Díaz, Chief Commercial Officer, noted that the project integrates agricultural expertise with clinical innovation, ensuring that every harvest meets rigorous phytochemical standards. By controlling the entire lifecycle of the plant, SUANNUTRA intends to provide customers with a consistent, fully traceable botanical ingredient that bridges the gap between raw field cultivation and sophisticated laboratory standardization.
