Unseenlabs Deploys Dual-Generation Satellite Mission via SpaceX
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is set to carry two distinct generations of Unseenlabs technology into orbit on October 1 from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The mission, managed by Exolaunch, marks the first time a Gen 1 nanosatellite and a Gen 2 microsatellite will launch simultaneously to expand the company’s orbital constellation.
The upcoming deployment of BRO-23 and BRO-32 will bring the Unseenlabs constellation to 25 active satellites. While the Gen 1 BRO-23 unit focuses on strengthening maritime monitoring—specifically detecting vessels that do not report their position via AIS—the Gen 2 BRO-32 satellite introduces broader spectral capabilities. According to Craig Brower, President and CEO of Unseenlabs U.S., the integration of these two generations allows the firm to enhance existing maritime surveillance while simultaneously expanding the detection of radio frequency emitters across land and space environments.
BRO-32 provides coverage across the L, S, C, and X bands, enabling the identification and characterization of a wider array of emitters than previous models. Despite their technical differences, both satellites operate independently within the same network, utilizing the company's proprietary monosatellite technology. Founded in 2015, the French-headquartered firm continues to grow its global footprint, providing multi-domain awareness data to government agencies, NGOs, and private-sector clients.
