Golden 1 Credit Union Expands Financial Services in Chico
Chico residents now have access to a revamped financial hub as Golden 1 Credit Union transforms its existing local branch into a dedicated Financial Resource Center. The facility integrates traditional banking with free educational programming, aiming to bolster personal financial health across Butte County through direct community support.
The center offers more than routine transactions, focusing on individualized guidance for budgeting, debt management, and homeownership. Senior executive vice president John Fischer noted the site is part of a broader state-wide initiative to launch three such centers this year, emphasizing the credit union's strategy to meet members where they live and work.
Beyond internal operations, the branch functions as a collaborative space for local institutions to host educational events. The first public session, a workshop on fraud prevention and scam awareness, is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6. Located at 239 W. 2nd St., the facility is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with appointments for one-on-one sessions available through their online portal.
