Lundbeck reports positive Phase IV data for Vyepti in migraine treatment

Sixty percent of patients who failed to respond to previous CGRP-targeting therapies reported significant improvement after switching to Vyepti, according to headline results from Lundbeck’s Phase IV THRIVE trial. The study provides new clinical evidence for managing patients who struggle with persistent migraine burden despite existing preventive options.

The 24-week open-label trial evaluated 164 adults who had previously failed one CGRP-targeting preventive treatment. Participants began with a 100 mg dose of eptinezumab, escalating to 300 mg at the 12-week mark. By the end of the study, nearly two-thirds of the participants reported being 'much improved' or 'very much improved' on the Patient Global Impression of Change scale.

Lundbeck’s research and development lead, Tarek Samad, noted that the trial addresses a critical gap in treatment sequencing for those who remain symptomatic after initial preventive therapies. Beyond patient-reported outcomes, the study monitored reductions in monthly migraine and headache days alongside acute medication use. The drug was generally well tolerated throughout the study, with no new safety signals identified. Full findings are slated for presentation at upcoming scientific congresses.
