Infineon Opens Semiconductor Backend Hub in Bangkok
Infineon Technologies officially inaugurated a new backend manufacturing site in Bangkok’s Samut Prakan province on October 1, 2026. Attended by Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Infineon COO Alexander Gorski, the launch marks a strategic expansion aimed at bolstering global supply chain resilience amid rising demand for electrification and digital technologies.

The facility represents a long-term commitment to Southeast Asia, designed with a modular architecture that allows for scaling up to five separate production units. Currently employing 350 staff, the site is projected to grow to 1,000 highly skilled roles as operations ramp up. The plant integrates advanced automation, wafer testing, and assembly capabilities, positioning it to handle complex, high-value semiconductor solutions for the automotive, industrial, and energy sectors.
Beyond production capacity, the hub serves as a pillar for Thailand’s semiconductor ecosystem. The company is partnering with local universities and technical institutions to cultivate regional talent. From an environmental standpoint, the greenfield site operates entirely on renewable electricity and utilizes on-site solar modules, aligning with the firm’s broader carbon reduction goals. By diversifying its manufacturing footprint, Infineon aims to increase logistical flexibility and proximity to key customer markets in the region.
