New Mosaics and Mausoleums Debut at North Arlington Open House
Thousands of Venetian glass tesserae and 24-karat gold leaf now adorn the Open-Air Mausoleum of the Holy Spirit in North Arlington. This weekend, October 10 and 11, the public can tour the site’s latest architectural expansions, featuring sacred art installations designed to provide a serene space for reflection and remembrance.

The new Open-Air Mausoleum of the Holy Spirit serves as the centerpiece of the expansion, utilizing glass skylights to illuminate nine distinct mosaics crafted by artists Alexander and Daniela Mandradjiev. Each piece symbolizes elements of the Holy Spirit, including fire, water, and wind. According to Alexander Mandradjiev, these installations serve as prayers expressed through light and color. Alongside the open-air facility, the cemetery is showcasing the ongoing development of the Chapel Mausoleum of Our Lady, which will feature stained-glass windows and a primary mosaic dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
Joseph Heckel, Executive Director of Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark, noted that these additions are intended to honor the community's history of faith with high-quality architectural design. During the open house hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Memorial Planning Advisors will be on-site at 340 Ridge Road to discuss burial and cremation options. Families who finalize arrangements during the event are eligible for 2026 price protection and a 48-month financing plan with zero interest.
