Huawei Debuts Mate 90 Series with Proprietary LogicFolding Tau Chips
Huawei has officially unveiled its Mate 90 smartphone series, anchored by the new LogicFolding Tau chipset architecture. The launch signals a significant push in hardware integration, blending the Kirin 9050 Pro processor with advanced Kunlun Xuanwu structural engineering to set a fresh performance benchmark for the company’s flagship lineup.

Executive Director Richard Yu framed the release as a milestone in vertical integration, combining hardware, software, and cloud capabilities. The series introduces the LogicFolding Tau chip, which utilizes a high-bandwidth, low-latency design to boost processing power across the range. The Pro Max and RS ULTIMATE DESIGN models specifically feature the Kirin 9050 Pro, while the standard Mate 90 utilizes the Kirin 9030, with performance gains ranging from 20% to 31% over previous generations.
Beyond raw power, the devices focus on durability and visual fidelity. High-end models incorporate the full-body Kunlun Xuanwu architecture and second-generation Linglong displays, capable of hitting 12,000 nits of peak brightness. Imaging remains a core pillar, with the True-to-Color Camera 3.0 system promising improved skin-tone accuracy and a new modular Z10 camera attachment for professional-grade photography. The series, which integrates deeply with HarmonyOS 7, starts at 5,999 CNY, with the premium RS ULTIMATE DESIGN model reaching 12,999 CNY.
