Whitehawk Data Highlights MUC16 as Key Ovarian Cancer Target
Whitehawk Therapeutics is presenting new real-world data at the International Gynecologic Cancer Society meeting in Montreal, identifying MUC16 as a durable target for antibody-drug conjugates in ovarian cancer patients, even after multiple lines of prior treatment.

The analyses, conducted in collaboration with Tempus AI, demonstrate that MUC16 expression remains high and stable across various standard-of-care regimens, including platinum-based chemotherapy and PARP inhibitors. Researchers noted that MUC16 displays less treatment-associated variation compared to other ADC targets like FRα, TROP2, and NaPi2b. These findings provide a scientific foundation for the clinical development of HWK-016, the company's next-generation ADC currently in Phase 1 trials.
Separately, data on high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma—the most common ovarian cancer subtype—revealed that elevated MUC16 levels correlate with poor real-world overall survival. According to Dr. Robert L. Coleman of Texas Oncology, this association persists even in treatment-naïve patients, marking MUC16 as a significant indicator of aggressive disease biology. The company intends to use these insights to refine its strategy for HWK-016, aiming for both combination therapies and applications in relapsed settings.
