ICW Group Diversifies Into Multi-Line Commercial Insurance in California
San Diego-based ICW Group is breaking its long-standing reliance on workers' compensation by launching five new commercial insurance lines in California. Starting October 1, the insurer began accepting submissions for policies effective January 1, 2027, marking a strategic shift toward becoming a comprehensive property and casualty provider for the middle market.

The expansion introduces commercial property, general liability, commercial auto, inland marine, and excess liability coverage to the company’s portfolio. By consolidating these offerings under one carrier, ICW Group aims to streamline the insurance process for agents and brokers, covering everything from initial submissions to final claims settlement. The initiative specifically targets middle-market accounts that align with the company’s existing risk management expertise.
Chief Underwriting Officer Paul Zamora noted that the company is leveraging its decades of experience to enter these new segments. The firm’s business development model emphasizes direct access to decision-makers and a consultative approach to risk selection. While the current rollout is limited to California, the company intends to scale these commercial offerings into additional states in the future, capitalizing on its 50-year financial foundation to support the broader coverage suite.
