Reading Is Fundamental Kicks Off Sixth Annual Rally to Read 100
A nationwide call to action begins today as Reading Is Fundamental launches its sixth annual Rally to Read 100. The six-month campaign challenges students and families to complete 100 books by March 2027, pairing interactive read-alouds with literacy resources ahead of the nonprofit’s 60th anniversary celebration.

The initiative, which runs through March 31, 2027, aims to sustain momentum following last year’s successful engagement of over 700,000 children. This year’s effort features a rotating monthly curriculum centered on themes like community, sustainability, and innovation. Participants will have access to exclusive read-aloud sessions from renowned creators including Joanna Ho, Peter H. Reynolds, and Brad Meltzer.
To support the goal of 100 books, the program provides free classroom and at-home materials, including Spanish-language resources. Barnes & Noble, acting as the inspiration partner, will also facilitate a massive book donation sweepstakes. One hundred selected educators will receive 100 books each, resulting in 10,000 volumes distributed to classrooms and youth organizations. The program culminates in a live national event simulcast from a New York City Barnes & Noble location during National Reading Month.
