Tigerlily Foundation Hosts Pajama Glam to Teach Girls Health Advocacy
When Maimah Karmo was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32, her daughter Noelle realized that children needed a dedicated space to process the fears and questions that arise during a parent's illness. On October 17, 2026, that vision returns to Washington as the annual Pajama Glam Party.

The event invites approximately 150 girls, caregivers, and community members to the Hyatt Regency Tysons Corner for an afternoon designed to demystify complex health topics. By trading formal attire for pajamas and glitter, the foundation aims to lower the barriers to discussing body awareness, family health history, and emotional well-being. The goal is to transform health literacy into a family-centered experience, ensuring that young girls feel empowered to advocate for their own care early in life.
Nearly 9 in 10 adults struggle to interpret complex health information, a gap that often correlates with significant disparities in breast cancer mortality among Black women. The Pajama Glam experience directly addresses this by introducing age-appropriate education on prevention and self-advocacy. Supported by sponsors including Merck and L’Oreal Women of Worth, the foundation uses this 20th-anniversary milestone to bridge the gap between clinical awareness and practical, everyday health confidence. For organizers, the event serves as a foundational step in building a generation of informed advocates capable of navigating their health futures with resilience.
