Royal Dansk’s Iconic Blue Cookie Tin Becomes a Glass Ornament

For sixty years, the blue Royal Dansk tin has occupied a permanent spot in kitchen cupboards, often living a second life as a container for sewing kits and family trinkets. Now, Spokane-based Old World Christmas is immortalizing that familiar design, transforming the classic butter cookie vessel into a hand-painted glass ornament.

The new Butter Cookies Tin Ornament, priced at $27.99, is mouth-blown and hand-painted using traditional 19th-century glass-making techniques. The collaboration aims to capture the nostalgia associated with the Danish brand, which has been a staple of holiday gatherings since its debut in 1966. The ornament is currently available through the Old World Christmas website and Amazon, arriving just ahead of the 2026 holiday season and National Cookie Day on December 4.

Neal Applefeld, President and CEO of Old World Christmas, noted that the project focuses on elevating everyday cultural touchstones into permanent keepsakes. While this is the first release in the partnership, both companies have signaled plans to expand the collaboration in the future. The project bridges the gap between a consumable holiday treat and a decorative tradition, offering fans a way to keep the recognizable blue tin on display long after the cookies themselves are gone.
