A Janesville Inventor Proposes a Standing Platform for Shopping Carts
Driven by the daily challenge of navigating retail spaces with a child who has a disability, a Janesville inventor has developed a patent-pending attachment for shopping carts. The device, dubbed MY BEST STEP, provides a secure platform allowing children to stand and ride alongside the cart during shopping trips.

The attachment aims to replace the common practice of having children walk through busy aisles or climb into the interior of a cart. By providing a dedicated standing area, the design seeks to improve comfort and safety for both the child and the caregiver. The inventor emphasizes that the platform is built for durability and ease of use, making it a viable addition for retail environments.
Currently, the invention is being represented by InventHelp, which is seeking licensing agreements or direct sales to manufacturers and marketers. A prototype and detailed technical schematics are available for interested parties through the company’s Pittsburgh office.
