Nicklaus Children's Health System Receives First Joint Commission Award
The Joint Commission has named Nicklaus Children's Health System as the inaugural recipient of its Champion for Children's Care Award, recognizing the Miami-based institution for its transformative influence on pediatric medical standards and its dedication to elevating safety outcomes for young patients across the region.

The award was presented to the health system during UNIFY 2026, the Joint Commission’s annual leadership conference. This honor highlights organizations that demonstrate excellence in clinical innovation and a consistent ability to improve care delivery models for the most vulnerable patients. According to the Joint Commission, the recognition acknowledges institutions that serve as models for high-quality, evidence-based pediatric practice.
Matthew A. Love, President and CEO of Nicklaus Children’s, credited the achievement to the collective efforts of the system's staff. Jonathan B. Perlin, head of the Joint Commission, noted that such recognition underscores the impact of collaborative, high-standard healthcare environments on global pediatric outcomes. With a network spanning more than 35 outpatient locations and a history of research-backed care, Nicklaus Children's continues to function as a primary clinical hub for families throughout Florida.
