Nanoscope Therapeutics to Showcase Optogenetic Therapy at AAO 2026

Nanoscope Therapeutics will present new clinical data and regulatory updates for its lead optogenetic candidate, MOGENRY, during the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2026 annual meeting. The event, held October 8–13 in New Orleans, serves as a platform for the firm to detail four-year durability results in retinitis pigmentosa patients.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sam Barone is scheduled to join the Emerging Innovations in Retinal Therapies panel at Eyecelerator 2026 on October 8. During the session, he will discuss the broader implications of mutation-agnostic gene therapies for advanced retinal degeneration. Later that day, Chief Operating Officer Paul Hallen will provide a progress update on the company’s regulatory filings, including the Biologics License Application currently under FDA review and the Japan New Drug Application moving through the PMDA process.

Scientific presentations at the AAO conference will focus on the long-term efficacy of MCO-010. Dr. Kenneth C. Fan will present four-year findings from the RESTORE Phase 2b/3 trial, specifically highlighting sustained vision improvement in patients with retinitis pigmentosa. Additionally, Dr. David S. Boyer will debut a scientific poster detailing results from the first direct-to-Phase 2 randomized controlled trial for dry age-related macular degeneration.
