bswift Deploys AI Tool to Automate Carrier Plan Configuration
Chicago-based benefits administrator bswift has unveiled an AI-driven toolset designed to accelerate plan updates and setup for its channel partners. By automating the interpretation of complex carrier documentation, the system aims to eliminate manual configuration errors, with Aflac serving as the exclusive launch partner for the new capabilities.

The platform leverages Emma™ Intelligence to ingest carrier-specific documents, automatically translating intricate rules, rates, and eligibility requirements into the bswift environment. This shift targets the administrative bottleneck of manual entry, moving the burden from human interpretation to automated processing, subject to final review. While the technology currently centers on Aflac, bswift intends to expand the integration to additional carriers, addressing the inherent variability in how benefit products are structured across the industry.
This functionality extends the company’s earlier work in AI-native intake, which previously focused on building sites for small and midsize groups. The new configuration tools specifically optimize the lifecycle of existing accounts, simplifying the process for adding voluntary benefits or updating plans before open enrollment. By aligning the software directly with carrier-specific materials, bswift seeks to reduce the friction that often complicates the deployment of complex voluntary insurance products. According to Sarah Maxwell, vice president of integration partnerships at bswift, the initiative moves away from generic templates to provide a more precise, carrier-tailored experience for all stakeholders.
