SpecialtyRx Opens Sandy Springs Hub to Bolster Georgia Pharmacy Services

A 14,000-square-foot pharmacy facility in Sandy Springs, Georgia, will host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 4. The site, which began operations earlier this year, serves as a central hub for the nation’s largest privately owned long-term care pharmacy, aiming to shorten delivery times across the greater Atlanta area.

The Sandy Springs location currently supports more than 5,000 patients, with infrastructure designed to scale up to 15,000 as regional demand grows. By establishing a physical presence within the market, SpecialtyRx intends to provide skilled nursing and assisted living facilities with 24/7 pharmacist support, emergency STAT medication delivery, and same-day IV services. The facility currently employs 35 staff members, including pharmacists and technicians, with plans to create up to 100 additional jobs over the next two years.

Co-founder Joel Zupnick emphasized that the proximity to local facilities is central to the company’s service model, allowing for more reliable, personalized support for caregivers. His partner and co-founder, Chesky Berkowitz, noted that the Sandy Springs site provides the necessary capacity to expand the firm’s footprint across the Southeast. Located at 8601 Dunwoody Place, the pharmacy is the 15th regional hub in a network that spans 19 states and serves 350,000 patients annually.
