Pennsylvania Medical Billing Firm Reports Data Breach
Between July 6 and July 16, 2026, an unauthorized actor gained access to the internal network of Secure Healthcare Information Management, a billing company serving independent physicians across Northeastern Pennsylvania. The breach potentially compromised the sensitive personal and health records of numerous patients, prompting a formal notification process this October.

The Allentown-based company discovered the network disruption on July 17 and engaged cybersecurity experts to conduct a forensic investigation. After confirming the scope of the unauthorized access on September 18, the firm identified that stolen files contained names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license IDs, and detailed medical and insurance information. The company has since reported the incident to the U.S. Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights.
Letters were mailed to affected individuals on October 6, offering access to identity protection services through Cyberscout. Those concerned about their data status can contact a dedicated call center at 1-833-516-7420, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET. Eligibility for fraud remediation services must be verified through this line, with an enrollment deadline set for January 4, 2027.
