IBM and SAP Launch ERP Modernization Initiative for Midsize Firms
A 50% reduction in operational cycle times for modular builder Volumetric Building Companies marks the debut of IBM Ready for SAP Solutions. The new offering targets midsize and high-growth organizations, aiming to replace legacy infrastructure with a unified cloud-based digital core designed to handle future artificial intelligence integration.

The initiative leverages IBM Consulting Advantage to deliver standardized SAP Cloud ERP transformations. By streamlining supply chain and manufacturing processes, the platform provides businesses like Volumetric Building Companies and snack manufacturer Second Nature Brands with the visibility needed to manage complex operations at scale. Second Nature Brands utilized the framework to integrate its Voortman Bakery acquisition, creating a cohesive platform that replaces fragmented systems.
IBM emphasizes that the shift toward cloud-based ERP is a response to competitive pressures, noting that 68% of enterprises view modernization as a critical step toward operational efficiency. For many, the primary goal is not just immediate speed but the establishment of a data-rich environment capable of supporting advanced automation. While the solution is currently restricted to select industries and regions, IBM intends to broaden its global availability as part of a joint strategy with SAP to accelerate enterprise adoption of autonomous systems.
