State Affairs Assembles Industry Leaders to Guide AI Policy Platform
Eleven senior government affairs executives gathered in Washington, D.C., on September 16 to launch the inaugural Customer Advisory Board for State Affairs. The group, representing major enterprises including Walmart, Mastercard, and Carvana, will directly influence the development roadmap for the company’s AI-driven regulatory intelligence platform.
The board formalizes a feedback loop designed to help the company navigate an increasingly complex legislative landscape. According to industry data, state legislatures introduced over 135,000 bills in 2025, a 76% surge from the previous year, while the number of hearings climbed by 81%. For the executives tasked with managing these exposures, the board offers a direct line to the newsroom and product teams building the platform.
Evan Burns, CEO of State Affairs, noted that the input gathered during the September session is already dictating product development for 2027. Participants, who include leaders from Fiserv, Siemens, and Churchill Downs, gain early visibility into new features while providing the specific insights needed to anticipate policy shifts. Sarah Shambrook, manager of government affairs at Carvana, stated that the role allows her team to help shape the tools they rely on to spot legislative trends. By keeping these power users at the center of the design process, the company aims to refine its knowledge graph, which tracks bills and regulations across all 50 states.
