The Bay Minette site represents one of the largest industrial investments in the sector in recent history. Once fully operational, the plant is slated to contribute 600 kilotonnes of annual rolled aluminum capacity, targeting the beverage packaging, automotive, and specialty product markets. A dedicated recycling center will also support the circular economy by processing more than 15 billion used beverage cans every year.

Steve Fisher, CEO of Novelis, noted that the facility addresses critical capacity constraints within the North American market. With commissioning now underway for all primary assets, the company is moving toward customer qualification. Commercial shipments are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2027, eventually supporting 1,000 new jobs in the region.
