Jake Nice, the chief executive who transformed Archer Lewis into a national accounting powerhouse in just two years, has earned a spot on the Crain’s Chicago Business 40 Under 40 list for 2026. The recognition marks a rapid ascent for the executive and his firm’s aggressive expansion strategy.

Since launching the company in 2024, Nice has executed a roll-up strategy that integrated 42 accounting firms under a single brand. The firm now employs over 600 people serving 63,000 clients, securing a position among the top 70 accounting firms in the United States. Accounting Today previously ranked the organization as the seventh fastest-growing firm in the industry.

Nice credits the achievement to the collective efforts of a team that joined the venture before the brand held any market presence. Prior to leading Archer Lewis, Nice co-founded the private holding company StoicLane and held roles at Nationwide Ventures and Avant. He views his current trajectory as a product of active experimentation rather than waiting for ideal conditions, noting that his focus remains on automating administrative tasks to prioritize client-facing advisory work.
