Hong Kong's Bar Leone Retains World's Best Bar Title
For the second consecutive year, Hong Kong’s Bar Leone has claimed the top spot on The 50 Best Bars list. Unveiled in Milan on October 7, the 2026 rankings celebrate the venue’s commitment to 'Cocktail Popolari,' a philosophy emphasizing accessible hospitality over the industry's penchant for complex theatricality.
Co-founded by Lorenzo Antinori, Bar Leone draws its inspiration from the historic Trastevere district of Rome. The venue prioritizes straightforward, high-quality drinks within a neighborhood-focused environment, a strategy that has resonated globally. Following the winner, the top five spots include Milan’s Moebius Milano at No. 2, Cartagena’s Alquímico at No. 3, Bangkok’s Bar Us at No. 4, and Athens’ Line at No. 5.
This year’s edition of the awards highlights a diverse international landscape, featuring bars from 26 cities and 14 new entries. Beyond the top-ranking venues, the ceremony recognized individual and specialty achievements: Shingo Gokan received the Roku Industry Icon Award, while Takuma Watanabe was named the Altos Bartenders' Bartender. Athens' Line secured the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award, and Mexico City’s Bar Mauro took the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award at No. 10. The 18th annual list serves as an indicator of current shifts in global cocktail culture, moving away from hyper-technical trends toward a renewed emphasis on community and craft.
