XPENG Moves European Production Into High Gear With G9L Trial

A pre-production unit of the G9L, the latest AI-driven SUV from XPENG, has successfully cleared its initial trial at Magna’s facility in Graz, Austria. This milestone marks the fourth model from the Chinese manufacturer to move into European production, setting the stage for a 1,324-kilometer road test to the Paris Motor Show.

The vehicle is scheduled to arrive in Paris on October 12, serving as a live demonstration of the SUV’s charging efficiency, safety architecture, and handling dynamics. This journey acts as a final proving ground before the G9L officially opens for orders at the upcoming global premiere. The partnership with Magna, which began operations in Graz just one year ago, has now become a cornerstone of XPENG's strategy to localize manufacturing for the European market.

Beyond the Austrian facility, XPENG continues to scale its international footprint. The company reports over 100,000 overseas deliveries to date, with Europe accounting for more than 60,000 of those units. During the second quarter of 2026, international deliveries climbed 81% year-on-year, highlighting a shift toward markets where the average selling price exceeds €40,000. Engineering teams have validated the G9L against stringent global benchmarks, including 192 crash tests and a rigorous 6.74-million-kilometer road-testing program across 26 countries.
