Shoulder Innovations Launches Next-Generation InSet Go Implant
Grand Rapids-based Shoulder Innovations has initiated a limited user release of its InSet Go glenoid implant, marking a new phase for the company’s anatomic shoulder arthroplasty systems. Dr. Robert Gillespie of University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center performed the first successful surgical procedure using the updated technology earlier this month.

The InSet Go represents an evolution of a design pioneered two decades ago by Dr. Stephen Gunther. The original technology aimed to eliminate glenoid implant loosening—the primary cause of failure in shoulder replacement—by seating the implant within a circumferential rim of dense bone. This approach prevents the 'rocking horse' effect, a common complication in traditional implants.
Beyond maintaining these stability principles, the new system streamlines surgical workflows by reducing the number of procedural steps required in the operating room. Surgeons like Dr. Chris Chuinard of Great Lakes Orthopaedic Center report that the design maintains the system's proven track record while enhancing efficiency. The release includes augmented configurations intended to assist in correcting bone loss, protected by additional intellectual property. CEO Rob Ball noted that the company plans a full commercial rollout over the coming quarters, citing positive early feedback from clinical users.
