Joshua and Amy Boger Donate $2 Million to Launch MassChallenge Fund
Joshua Boger, a veteran advisor to the startup accelerator MassChallenge, is donating $2 million alongside his wife, Amy, to launch the MC Innovation Fund. The capital is strictly earmarked for new growth initiatives rather than general operations, aiming to break the cycle of funding only existing, proven programs.

The gift, intended for deployment over the next six years, addresses a common struggle for maturing organizations: balancing the demands of current operations with the need to explore new strategic directions. By ring-fencing these funds, the Bogers hope to provide the accelerator with the financial runway required to experiment without jeopardizing its core mission. Joshua Boger, who served as the organization's inaugural board chair, noted that the donation reflects a desire to pay back the system that helped facilitate the growth of Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, a company he led until its acquisition this September.
Cait Brumme, CEO of MassChallenge, views the fund as a cornerstone for the accelerator's multi-year expansion strategy. The organization intends to use this founding gift as a catalyst to attract further contributions from alumni and other stakeholders, creating a permanent vehicle for future development. While the donors expressed a preference for anonymity, they opted to publicize the contribution in hopes of establishing a model for successful startups to reinvest in the ecosystem that supported their early development.
