XPRIZE Gathers Global Experts to Select Next Decade-Defining Challenges
From October 15–17, Calamigos Ranch in Malibu hosts the annual Global Visioneering Summit, where a cross-section of astronauts, scientists, and philanthropists will collaborate to determine the focus of the organization's next major incentive competitions. The event aims to bridge a growing gap in funding for long-term global solutions.
Participants will evaluate six prize concepts spanning health, food and water security, and climate energy. These proposals, refined throughout a year-long development process, will face live scrutiny before attendees vote on which initiatives receive seed funding to launch as official XPRIZE competitions. CEO Anousheh Ansari and Chairman Peter Diamandis lead the summit, emphasizing the urgency of incentivizing breakthroughs in an era where public and corporate funding for long-term research is increasingly scarce.
The program features deep dives into high-stakes sectors, including neurotech advancements in suicide prevention, regenerative soil science, and wildfire detection technology. Beyond the formal pitches, the summit includes a live recording of the Moonshots podcast and panels on the future of space exploration. Since its inception in 1994, the organization has launched prizes totaling $519 million, a model that has historically generated over $32 billion in economic and technological impact through collaborative, crowd-sourced innovation.
