Explora III Debuts in New York City During Inaugural Season

The sleek profile of the EXPLORA III cut through the New York harbor on October 8, 2026, marking the vessel’s maiden call to the city. As the third ship in the Explora Journeys fleet, this LNG-powered liner signals a pivotal expansion for the brand as it moves toward a six-ship goal by 2028.

The arrival was marked by a traditional Crest Exchange Ceremony held on board, where the ship’s leadership and local port officials commemorated the visit. Designed as the most spacious vessel in the fleet, the ship features a suite of enhanced culinary concepts and wellness facilities intended to push the brand’s signature "Ocean State of Mind" further into the luxury market. Travel advisors toured the ship during the stay, evaluating the vessel’s focus on large, oceanfront suites and intuitive service models.

Chris Austin, President of North America for Explora Journeys, noted that the ship builds upon the success of its predecessors, EXPLORA I and II, while introducing advanced environmental technologies. Following the New York stop, the vessel will transit along the U.S. and Canadian East Coast before repositioning to Miami to launch its inaugural Caribbean season. The company, a subsidiary of the MSC Group, plans to introduce three additional ships by 2028 to solidify its position in the boutique ocean travel sector.
