Pentagon to livestream execution of Fort Hood shooter
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed plans to broadcast the December 3 execution of Nidal Hasan, the former Army major convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood massacre. The event, scheduled for 2 PM ET, will mark a rare public display of capital punishment intended to demonstrate the consequences of lethal violence.

The Department of Defense intends to stream the firing squad execution to ensure transparency and public accountability for the attack that claimed 13 lives. While officials confirmed the broadcast, major technology platforms including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Meta, Rumble, and Kick have remained silent regarding whether they will permit the footage to be hosted on their services. Hasan, who was found guilty of the mass shooting at the Texas military base, has remained on death row for years. The decision to make the execution a digital event represents a significant departure from standard penal procedures, placing the burden of content moderation directly onto private social media companies.
