Cisco Adds Cognite CEO Girish Rishi to Board of Directors

Cisco Systems has appointed Cognite Chairman and CEO Girish Rishi to its board of directors, effective October 9, 2026. Rishi joins the board with a thirty-year track record in hardware, software, and systems management. His background includes serving as CEO of supply chain software provider Blue Yonder and holding executive roles at companies such as Motorola Solutions, Zebra Technologies, and Tyco International. Beyond his current leadership at Cognite, he acts as a Senior Advisor to Blackstone and serves on the board of Insight Enterprises.

Cisco Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins pointed to Rishi’s experience in helping complex organizations leverage data as a primary reason for the appointment. For his part, Rishi noted that the transition to AI-driven operations relies heavily on the secure, resilient infrastructure that Cisco provides. His appointment adds a veteran perspective on industrial AI to the board as the company seeks to maintain its competitive edge in global digital connectivity.
