Abada previously acted as Senior Counsel to CFTC Commissioner Kristin N. Johnson, where she navigated complex policy frameworks for market participants. Her move strengthens Mayer Brown's Derivatives & Structured Products and Fintech teams, sectors where the firm holds top-tier rankings from Chambers USA and The Legal 500. Firm Chair Jon Van Gorp noted that Abada’s deep experience with the CFTC will assist clients in managing the regulatory pressures of an increasingly automated and digital-first financial landscape.

Before her government service, Abada built a private practice career representing banks, swap dealers, and hedge funds on compliance and legislative matters. She brings extensive experience in counseling financial institutions on the integration of distributed ledger technology and AI. Her arrival aligns with Mayer Brown’s recent industry recognition, including being named Americas Law Firm of the Year at the 2026 GlobalCapital Americas Derivatives Awards.
