René Huard Channels Guitar Folklore in New Single Tail Waggin'

Drawing inspiration from a vintage anecdote about jazz legend Wes Montgomery, Fort Erie roots rocker René Huard has released his latest single, Tail Waggin'. The track serves as the opening chapter for his upcoming eleven-track album, Gently Used, which is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026.

The song stems from a story about Montgomery feeding his guitar case like a pet, a metaphor for the grueling, often surreal nature of life on the road. Huard, a veteran musician with four decades of experience, captures this weariness and devotion through his signature blend of vocals, guitar, and harmonica. Produced by longtime collaborator Rick Taylor, the album features a robust lineup, including bassist Jeff Muir and drummer Peter Griffin, alongside guest turns from saxophonist Alistair Robertson and keyboardist Ed Roth.

Huard’s career spans from his early days fronting the Meteors—where he shared stages with blues icons like James Cotton and Long John Baldry—to his time as the host of television series such as Antique Hunter. Following the success of his previous record, Blues Calling, which reached the Top 20 on the Roots Music Report, this new collection looks to solidify his standing in the Canadian roots scene. With Gently Used, Huard continues to draw from the road-tested experiences that have defined his long-standing musical identity.
