The accolade was presented to the Afcons team in Chennai on October 9. The project team successfully implemented a series of resource-conscious strategies, including the recycling of concrete washout waste to recover sand, aggregates, and water. By reusing tunnelling muck for segment casting and treating all tunnel wastewater before discharge, the firm significantly lowered its waste footprint and energy consumption.

Deputy Managing Director Giridhar Rajagopalan noted that sustainability remains central to the company's construction philosophy. Beyond waste management, the project prioritized natural resources, utilizing roof skylights to maximize daylight and reduce electricity demand. As a flagship of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, Afcons currently maintains operations across 31 countries and holds a global ranking among the top 140 international contractors.
