American Express Partners with SailGP for Hong Kong Debut
SailGP has tapped American Express as the title sponsor for its inaugural Hong Kong Grand Prix, marking the season opener of the 2027 Rolex SailGP Championship. The event, scheduled for January 23–24 at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, promises high-speed catamaran racing against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour.
The partnership grants American Express cardmembers exclusive priority access to ticket sales starting October 21, 2026, followed by a general public release on October 27. The collaboration embeds the financial brand into the event’s infrastructure, offering premium hospitality and race-day experiences at the purpose-built Race Stadium. Sir Russell Coutts, CEO and co-founder of SailGP, noted that the city’s global ambition aligns with the league's high-tech stadium racing format.
Validated as an "M" Mark event by the Major Sports Events Committee, the Grand Prix aims to bolster Hong Kong's status as a premier hub for international sports. The race features identical F50 catamarans capable of exceeding 100 km/h. Following the Hong Kong launch, the 2027 season will continue through a global circuit, including stops in Perth, San Francisco, and New York, before concluding in late 2027.
