EIT Pharma to Showcase Lonafarnib Data at Delta Cure Meeting in Milan
EIT Pharma will unveil new clinical data on lonafarnib, an experimental oral treatment for chronic hepatitis delta, at the 5th Delta Cure International Meeting in Milan on October 15-16. The presentations center on findings from the phase 3 D-LIVR trial, which evaluated the drug’s impact on liver health and viral suppression.

Dr. Nancy Reau of Rush University Medical Center is scheduled to lead an oral presentation on October 16, detailing histologic improvements and reductions in necroinflammation observed in patients during the D-LIVR study. The company is also hosting a breakfast briefing that morning to discuss the drug's development trajectory. Additional findings from the trial, including post-treatment response analysis and ALT dynamics following therapy cessation, will be presented by Dr. Saeed Hamid and Dr. Ohad Etzion in separate poster sessions.
Lonafarnib remains the only late-stage investigational therapy for chronic hepatitis delta that utilizes an oral route of administration. Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration accepted the company's New Drug Application for the therapy. While the drug is currently under regulatory review, it has not yet received approval from the FDA or any other health authority, and its safety and efficacy profiles remain under investigation.
