Chicago-based Barchart is shifting how traders interact with commodity intelligence by launching cmdtyView Labs. The offering targets quantitative analysts and technical teams who need to embed market information directly into proprietary applications. By utilizing a local proxy within the cmdtyView Desktop, the system bypasses traditional enterprise API bottlenecks. It leverages WebSocket connections and Protocol Buffer feeds to minimize latency, allowing for seamless integration of forward curves, options analytics, and real-time quotes.

Chief Product Officer Chris Harrison noted that industry professionals increasingly demand the ability to manipulate data within their own analytical environments. To facilitate this, the platform includes official software development kits for Python, C#/.NET, Java, Go, JavaScript, and Rust. These tools handle authentication and connectivity, letting developers focus on building risk management or trading strategies rather than maintaining infrastructure. Access to the platform is limited to current cmdtyView Desktop subscribers.
